Visitor Management & Sign-In
Receiving visitors, confirming who they are here to see, signing them in and out, and directing them properly once cleared.

AGS Security provides SIA-licensed security receptionists for offices, corporate premises, managed buildings and multi-occupancy sites across the UK — managing visitors and contractors, controlling access and keeping a proper record of who is in the building.
Reception is the one security position that has to look like hospitality. The officer at the desk is the first person your clients, candidates and contractors meet, and the last control before anyone walks into your building. Getting that balance wrong in either direction is expensive: a desk that feels like a checkpoint, or one that waves everybody through.
Our officers are briefed on your access rules, issue and recover visitor passes, check credentials where your site requires it, and maintain the logs that tell you who was in the building and when.
This is a security role delivered at a reception desk, with the duties agreed for your building before the first shift.
Receiving visitors, confirming who they are here to see, signing them in and out, and directing them properly once cleared.
Signing contractors in and out and confirming they are expected before they go beyond reception.
Where your site requires it, checking identification and credentials against the arrangements agreed for the building.
Issuing passes on arrival and recovering them on departure, so the building roll stays accurate through the day.
Authorising entry against written access rules, including who may go through unaccompanied and who must be escorted.
Receiving and directing deliveries arriving at reception, and recording them where your procedure requires it.
Watching the entrance, lobby and communal areas rather than treating the desk as the whole of the job.
A written escalation route, and a staffed point at the entrance supporting your building's emergency procedures.
Reception is where security is hardest to enforce, because every refusal happens in front of an audience. Someone arrives without an appointment, a contractor is not on the list, a visitor wants to go up unaccompanied — and staff are watching how it is handled.
It takes an officer who can decline politely, hold the position, and still be the person your clients are pleased to be greeted by. That is what we brief and select for on reception assignments.
The desk is your first impression. We choose officers who can be both without dropping either.
Access criteria and exceptions agreed in advance, so refusals are policy rather than personal judgement.
Sign-in, passes and logs maintained properly, so who was in the building is a question with an answer.
The same standard and the same answers whoever is on the desk that day.
Reception considered alongside gatehouse, officers and patrols, from one provider and one point of contact.
Priced on the hours and duties agreed for your building, not an off-the-shelf package.
A staffed desk removes the easiest way into most commercial buildings, which is simply looking like you belong.
Passes issued and recovered and logs kept, so a fire roll call or an incident review has something reliable to work from.
Clients, candidates and contractors are received in a controlled, welcoming environment without compromising the building's access procedures.
Signed in, expected, and not wandering the building looking for the person who booked them.
Admin and office staff stop being interrupted to let people in and work out where visitors should go.
Some of the value is simply that someone is there, watching the entrance, all day.
This is the service most often oversold, so it is worth being exact about where our scope ends. It usually saves a difficult conversation in month two.
Visitor and contractor management, sign-in, pass issue, credential checks where required, access control at the desk, delivery management, monitoring the entrance and communal areas, keeping the logs, escalating incidents and supporting your emergency procedures.
We do not staff your switchboard, sort your post, prepare meeting rooms or book taxis. Those are administrative roles, and an officer doing them is an officer not watching your entrance. We would rather say so now than be asked in week three.
Alongside your own reception or office team, not instead of it: they handle the business of the building, our officer handles who comes into it. On smaller sites the officer often covers the desk alone during core hours.
Most of the work is agreeing who gets past the desk, and on whose authority, before anyone starts.
The entrance, the lobby, the volume of visitors and contractors, and the hours the desk needs staffing.
Who may enter, who authorises exceptions, how passes are issued and what is recorded, written into the assignment instructions.
An officer chosen for the environment and briefed on your building, your people and your access rules before day one.
Visitor logs available to you, with duties and access rules reviewed as the building and its occupiers change.
The front desk is one control point in a building. These are the services most often specified around it.
The same front-of-house discipline at the site entrance, where visitors and deliveries arrive by vehicle rather than on foot.

Reception assignments are highly visible. The conduct, presentation and communication skills of the officer directly influence both security performance and the experience of people entering your building.

Tell us the building, the hours the desk needs staffing and what comes through your entrance on a normal day, and we can put together a reception specification and a written quotation.
